More Than Meets the Eye
I want to share some real life quotes with you that I have been collecting over the past couple of months.
- “I love my kid but I couldn’t be a teacher. I drink too much already!” a parent helping out with the Christmas party this school year.
- “A monster! A monster is eating my belly button!” Charles’s reply when I asked him what he was doing.
- [Invisi-Text*: Not for the timid reader] “Mr. Write, they are playing with your balls!” [/Invisi-Text] said by a student tattling on other students who where playing with the Four Block beach balls.
- “Well Unicron was there and he was eating everything and even planets. Optimus Prime died cause Megatron killed him and then they threw Megatron out and Unicron got Megatron and gave him a new body and then he is Galvatron. And we went to McDonald’s and we got the movie at Walmart. I went home and watched it all! Then Ultra Magnus took over the Autobots! And Ultra Magnus got the spark and Optimus Prime went into the Matrix.” Charles’s reply when I asked him what he was doing on a different day from the above quote. The sad part is, I knew exactly what he was talking about and was able to discuss with him in great detail the finer points of the subject. He was quite impressed with my vast knowledge of the subject, as well as all the boys in the class.

Transformers. I knew a group of guys in college who used to all meet and watch every new episode that came out… kinda scary. My wife has discovered that knowing a little about hunting from me has helped her really connect with a few of the kids out in her rural district. Its all about finding a common frame of reference with them. Just my two cents.

Hey, I went and saw The Transformers movie back in the summer of 1985 when it was released in theaters! I love that show!
