Sunday Brunch XXXVIII: Your Kitchen

“If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.” -Harry Vaughan

1) What is your favorite kitchen appliance?
My favorite kitchen appliance at this point it the PUR water filter that I have on my faucet. I hate the taste of the water in Rolla. Unfortunately the water in Sullivan has also gotten pretty bad. The filter takes all that nasty taste away. A close runner up would be the oven/microwave. Then following closely after that is the chef’s knife.

2) What kind of cookware do you have?
T-Fal (warning their site is annoying). One of the cheaper sets. Non-stick all the way!

3) What color are your counter tops and cabinets?
Grayish-white, occasionally accented with purple dashed of grape jelly.

4) Name one kitchen appliance or gadget that you wish you had.
Trivection in action baby! Without doubt or hesitation, a GE Profile Trivection oven. Now let me tell you a little about this marvel of culinary science cause this ain’t your momma’s oven. Trivection ovens use three heating methods at the same time (hence tri): Thermal (your momma’s oven), convection (circulating heated air), and microwave (like, ummm, your microwave). This jewel of an oven cooks things five times faster than a normal thermal oven. Just tell the oven what you are cooking, the temp and time that the recipe calls for and the oven figures out how much time and what proportion of each of the heating methods to use. Not only that, I have read that my favorite cook show host, Alton Brown, had a hand in developing this thing. The man is a genius!

5) Describe your dream kitchen.
Very monochrome. White and black would be the color scheme. Very sterile. All the appliances would be stainless steel. There would be an island with a black or dark gray marble (or something that looked like it was marble) top. Hanging over the island would be a cast iron deal that would hold the stainless steel pots and pans. The lighting would come from above and it would be a very directed beam that would give the room a very dramatic look at night. And someone other than me would clean it.

Class dismissed!

Um, your dream gadget and kitchen sound just like the ones over at the house where I dog-sit. The kitchen is full of GE Profile appliances including a Trivection oven (I had to research to figure out how to use it) and is very monochrome.

Just out of curiousity, how hard was it to figure out how to use the Trivection oven? My parents are remodeling their home and I’m thinking of encouraging them to go for the Trivection because it just seems so cool, especially with the roast turkey. But if it’s too complicated, why bother? Your thoughts?

I have no idea. I have never seen one. The adds make it seem easy though. :???:
