Are You Smarter than an 8th Grader? Pt. 1
Let’s see if you are smarter than an 8th grader from 1895. Over the next few days I will post a section from the 8th grade final exam from Salina, KS in 1895. Feel free to play along in the comments.
Today’s subject: Grammar
- Give nine rules for the use of Capital Letters.
- Name the Parts of Speech and define those that have no modifications.
- Define Verse, Stanza, and Paragraph.
- What are the Principals Parts of a verb? Give Principal parts of do, lie, lay, and run.
- Define Case; Illustrate each Case.
- What is punctuations? Give rules for principal marks of punctuations.
- - 10. Write a composition of about 150 words and show therein that you understand the practical use of the rules of grammar.
