Josiah Road

The Ethics and Religious Liberty Committee (ERLC) (an agency of the Southern Baptist Convention), headed by Dr. Richard Land, has started a new Web 2.0 website called Josiah Road. The idea is to create an online community to discuss ethical issues. The website does this using several different “Web 2.0″ technologies. There is a blog but right now there are only two posts. The site also includes wiki about ethical issues that users can add information to. Another section of the website allows users to post about a social topic or cultural issue, other users can vote on the issue to promote it to the front page. Finally there are also a set of forums that users can discuss the issues more in depth. What I found most of interest within the forums were sections specifically devoted to state ethical issues. I wasn’t surprised in the least to discover that Missouri is the most active forum there with posts about stem cell research, gambling, and churches who have discussions of theology in breweries (I don’t think that issue will ever get old). I personally am looking forward to the first post about the lawsuit against the break away agencies in Missouri. I even considered starting one myself to see if I could get anyone to bite but decided not to.
Right now there aren’t a whole lot of active users on the site so there isn’t a whole lot of content but I think there is potential for this site to be quite interesting. Or it could de-evolve into the same old discussions that seemingly go on without end. I think I will be checking in occasionally to see how it is going. May even post every now and then.
Oh, and just because the site was created by an agency of the SBC, doesn’t mean you have to be an SBCer to join and discuss.
Let me know if you join and what you think of the site in the comments.
Class dismissed!

A reader may be asking why I am writing in my blog rather than working on this supposedly horrendous to-do list. Fair question. It is because I am avoiding my to-do list. Let me break it down Dwight Schrute style:
